Energy label: a bureaucratic ordeal or a decision-making aid?
It's true that without government incentives or regulatory obligations, few homeowners would have taken the initiative to call in an expert to carry out a study to calculate an energy label. More than 90 % of these reports, whether printed on 80 pages or in the form of PDF files, often end up relegated to a filing cabinet, whether physical or virtual. The costs announced in these reports are often partial and insignificant.
But...
Despite these observations, an energy study can still be used to situate a building in relation to others, to assign it an easily understandable class, and to calculate the energy savings and CO2 emission reductions resulting from renovation measures.
EPIQR+ added value
With EPIQR+, an expert can fill in the missing information to answer real questions from homeowners rather than questions from the authorities:
- What is the condition of my building and what renovation strategy should I adopt to correct its energy obsolescence while preserving its structure and installations?
- What is the total budget for the work?
The partial costs of the energy works are of particular interest to the expert, who can then justify his proposals. For the homeowner, however, they are less important. Above all, they want to know how much it will cost to renovate their property as a whole, in order to determine whether they have the necessary resources, whether their bank is prepared to finance the entire project, or whether they need to mobilise their own funds.
EPIQR+ is designed to be used by an energy expert who does not have full knowledge of the building.
EPIQR+ offers a structured, explicit and transparent approach to costs. Thanks to its pedagogical nature, an expert relatively familiar with buildings can carry out a satisfactory initial assessment of the building, model the work and calculate a credible budget, covering all the work required, including interior fittings and installations over and above simple heat production and ventilation.
Increasing your expert turnover can also save you money.
Billing the owner for an extra 2 to 4 days does not represent an additional cost for the energy expert; on the contrary, it's a saving for the owner, who gets answers to his questions without having to call in another expert. In fact, with a single visit and a single calculation of quantitative data, such as the Energy Reference Area and the surface areas of walls, roofs and windows, the owner saves half the work.
The level of competence required of an energy expert is, in principle, sufficient to carry out a summary analysis of the entire building, including its constructive and technical elements, with just one day's training. What's more, with the CO2 module, the expert can calculate the indirect emissions of the work and check the different renovation scenarios, comparing the total budget for the work and the CO2 emissions.
An intuitive, transparent method, a real toolbox and a price catalogue.
The software platform makes it easy to carry out an intuitive assessment, enabling the expert to understand and document the condition of all the structural and technical elements. The ability to estimate the cost of work that goes beyond simple refurbishment, such as switching away from fossil fuels, installing new heating control technologies or setting up energy self-consumption systems, opens up a wide range of proposals for optimising renovation recommendations. This gives the expert a genuine catalogue of reliable prices for energy optimisation measures.
Testimonial from an energy efficiency technician at Groupe E.
Jessica Hug, an energy efficiency technician with Groupe E, recently carried out the diagnosis of around twenty buildings using the old version of EPIQR+ and an Excel sheet for the Check Energie. Despite her specialisation in energy, she was able to tackle all aspects of the buildings thanks to the explicit and structured modelling offered by EPIQR+, as well as the transparency of the method used to calculate costs. She discovered the new online version of EPIQR+ and wrote to us: "First of all, congratulations on your new version of EPIQR. I find the platform very easy to understand. It's intuitive and ergonomic. The report output is clear and perfectly legible in the blink of an eye for an owner."
