Customer case study: EPIQR+ at the service of CECB experts

CECB logo

The Certificat énergétique cantonal des bâtiments (CECB), which is uniform throughout Switzerland, assesses a building's overall energy performance, including the efficiency of its envelope and its direct CO2 emissions. The CECB Plus, on the other hand, goes further by providing advice on energy renovations.

The CECB can be drawn up for various types of building, including residential, administrative, school, hotel, commercial and mixed-use buildings.

Context

Adrien Genre Architectes has been commissioned by the Swatch Group Pension Fund to carry out an energy renovation and extension study for the Charmettes tower at the beginning of Boulevard Pérolles in Fribourg.

Solution

Based on a CECB+ and the 1961 building plans, the architect extracted the following data: Energy reference surface area (ERSA), façade, window, roof and basement floor areas.

Using this data, in half an hour the architect was able to put a figure on the various scenarios proposed by the CEBS expert and compare their CO2 balances using the EPIQR CO2 add-on.

Results

It was thus possible to quickly obtain a cost estimate for the following interventions:

  • Perimeter insulation for target and limit values
  • Implementation of solar thermal production for domestic hot water
  • Installing a solar photovoltaic system
  • Bringing balconies and loggias up to standard
  • AEAI compliance in the context of the enquiry process
